Psychonauts 2 could be a possibility with the help of Minecraft creator

Double Fine Productions has made some spectacular games over the years and are well know for their cartoony style and quirky humor.

The first game they produced was the brilliantly cerebral and funny Psychonauts.

One of the most enjoyable games of its time, it didn't get nearly as much attention as it deserved and most people never had the opportunity to play it.

Luckily, I had a chance to and was greeted with one of the most unique gaming experiences I have ever had the privelege to experience.

Psychonauts put you in the shoes of "Raz", a young boy who had psychic abilities and  runs away from the circus to join a summer camp (and training camp) for similarly gifted children called "Psychonauts". The area was hit by a meteor comprised of "Psitanium" several centuries before, and ever since has been an area where Psychic abilities are enhanced.

The gameplay was comprised of a combination of platforming elements and a light RPG mechanic. The inclusion of extremely interesting, incredibly twisted, and comedic characters gave this game an incredible amount of depth, that was never too serious and always a little insane.

The ability to enter the minds of several of these characters also served to make the game a little more crazy than most.

Tim Schafer (The Owner of Double Fine Studios) has repeatedly tried to jumpstart the development of a sequel, but has always had little success.

Although die-hard fans of the original are constantly questioning Schafer on the possibility of a sequel, he has openly admited that the funds to start the project are regrettably not there.

Recently, a twitter post to Schafer from Minecraft Creator "Notch" indicated that he would like to see the game come to fruition.

Notch tweeted at Schafer, saying "Let's make Psychonauts 2 happen."

While this does not necessarily indicate that Notch is getting invloved yet, it does suggest that an Alliance betwen these two gaming icons may be a possibility.

Besides, Notch definitely has a reputation for using Twitter to communicate his intentions.

I personally hope this does happen, and Psychonauts 2 finds its way into development for release. This was seriously one of my most loved games on the PS2.
