Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

The Metal Gear Solid games are known for many things, but their convoluted stories and conspiracies within conspiracies within conspiracies (you get the idea) are what really stand out. This is one series that, if your removed all the game-play elements, could stand alone just on the movie and codec sequences alone. However, you should not ignore the amazing tactical espionage action game-play that the series has to offer, and even though it's hard to learn, once you get the hang of things you'll be "ninja-ing" your way through armies with nothing but a knife and a pack of cigarettes.

The HD collection brings back MGS:2 and 3, why 1 was left out is a mystery. It may have something to do with the remake for the Gamecube, but at the same time it could just be the game couldn't make the HD conversion,it being a PS1 game and all. Twin Snakes, the MGS:1 remake for the Gamecube, was amazingly done and even added new action sequences that would impress John Woo. It's sad to see that not many people will get to see this fabulous remake either because of silly copyright issues or laziness to convert.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, is the final product of the MGS2:Sons of Liberty game. The full experience is put into the collection, which includes more action sequences and missions left out of the original.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistance is the directors cut of MGS:3. An origin story to the entire series, even before NES Metal Gear games, that introduces to a 1960's Cold War Snake. The game focuses a lot more on stealth and camouflage, and even introduced the difficulty of "European Extreme" which made it that if you were discovered the game was over. For those who only played MGS:4, you will get to see a younger, more nubile Eva.

Metal Gear Solid : Peace Walker was the PSP sequel to MGS:3, but still set before any other Metal Gear game. This game is one of those games that keeps on giving. Every time you get some unlockable content you think "That must be it"... but then you get more... and then more... and it just doesn't stop. For a PSP title it had a lot of content and an amazing multiplayer mode. And the best news of all is the PS3 HD version can load the PSP save files, if you have them.

This HD collection is a great way to reintroduce the series to gamers; either to those who didn't have the chance to get them in their heyday, those who want to replay them but no longer have their PS2s, or those who would only give them a chance if they were in HD. Hideo Kojima is a known technophile, so it would be no surprise if his team not only upped the graphics but also added some exclusive hidden content (especially for the PS3 version).
